Dysregulation of adipose metabolism induced by unhealthy lifestyles and aging not only triggers abnormal expansion of adipose tissue and obesity but also leads to multi-organ metabolic imbalance and functional impairment through cross-organ effects. We focus on novel cross-organ mechanisms by which secreted proteins and peripheral nerves regulate adipose metabolism, and develop intervention strategies for chronic metabolic diseases accordingly.
