Shanghai Academy of Natural Sciences (SANS) was established in 2024 as an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing fundamental science.

As a pioneering institute, SANS operates without in-house laboratories. Instead, we support leading scientists through innovative approaches and mechanisms to pursue basic research, with a focus on work that is cutting-edge, pioneering, groundbreaking, and disruptive.

SANS values deep thinking and is committed to working alongside like-minded scientists who are Future Dreamers, Truth Seekers, and Challenge Embracers. We promote high-quality dialogue anchored in key scientific questions, encourage constructive scholarly critique and debate, and foster an open, rigorous, and sustainable environment for academic exchange – supporting interdisciplinary collaboration and original exploration.
