Huji Xu focuses primarily on the pathogenesis of rheumatic diseases. He is a pioneer in applying allogeneic CAR-T cell therapy to treat refractory autoimmune conditions. He also identified key pathogenic loci in ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, he led the world’s largest AS genomics program, delivering the first polygenic risk–based molecular diagnostic tool for autoimmune diseases. Huji has led 41 clinical trials,. Over the past decade, his work has resulted in major publications in Cell, Nature, Nature Genetics, The Lancet Rheumatology, Arthritis & Rheumatology, Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA.
