Professor Xiaodong Sun is primarily dedicated to the clinical and translational research of inherited eye diseases and fundus disorders. He successfully performed China’s first gene therapy for inherited retinal degeneration (LCA) and established the largest national clinical center for gene therapy of rare eye diseases. His research also encompasses the mechanisms of injury and repair following retinal detachment, as well as the comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and novel drug clinical trials for age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
